EVENING Vacation Bible School at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church 

Campers: ages 4 (PreK) - entering 6th grade in September of 2025
Volunteers: finished 6th grade in June 2025 - age 110!

We will guide kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure, where northern lights glow over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and glistening glaciers. As kids trek the tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Pointing them toward Jesus, "Totally Catholic True North VBS" shows them that he is a faithful friend we can always trust. He’s our True North!

Why are you hosting in the evening this summer?

Because we want YOU to join us!

So many of our SIJ parishioner families (other faith traditions are welcome to join as well!) are limited by the morning camp model because of daycare and work schedules. We also NEED adult volunteers (tweens, teens, adults - like moms & dads!) who can spare ONE WEEK of evenings to be a part of this truly transforming tradition.

But it's past their bedtime!

We on the SIJ VBS team have wrestled with this for months and we hope that in the middle of the hot summer, with long daylight hours (sunset will be 8:30PM that week!) you will give us a chance to win you over with the merits of the VBS program and community. There is so much GOOD that comes from a week with your church family. Trust us.

But what about dinner?

The details are in the works, but we will certainly up the ante and shift snack time to an easy dinner meal provided by us as kids and volunteers arrive.

But I don't LIKE change!

I know. My family has been a part of daytime VBS at SIJ since 2012. But after lots of prayer, studying other options, and trying to reconcile how we can get our Faith Formation families involved along with neighborhood kids and parishioners (as well as trying to solve the dilemma of finding adults AVAILABLE to donate the time to staff the camp), this is the solution we will try this summer.

Can you trust me that this will be a week to remember? Can you prayerfully consider joining our team of volunteers, too? (I promise we will give you clear training and directions!) We are motivated by serving YOU, our St. Isaac Jogues community. Please register and invite your children's friends, your nieces and nephews, and your neighbors to be a part of something you won't regret.

Please join us in praying for our Confirmation Candidates as they head to their Confirmation Retreat this weekend. May their time of rest help them grow closer to Christ, and help prepare them to be sealed in the Spirit. 

Our pantry will be open to guests on March 12 and 26 from 9:00-11:00 AM. If you can, please drop off one or more of the following items when you come to Mass or the parish office:  coffee, juice, tea, rice/potato packets, pasta, pasta sauce, chili, soup, peanut butter, jelly and snacks.  Thank you for your faithful support of those who come to our parish for assistance.

 Two very happy people received exciting news when members of the Haiti Ministry called them last Saturday evening to announce they had each won one of the Wine Baskets! Congratulations to Reena Kelley and Eileen Eich, this year’s big winners. They will enjoy a variety of delightful selected international treats, gift certificates from Pastore’s Deli, and an assortment of fine wines. Thanks again to Total Wine for their continued support, and thanks to all who supported this essential fundraiser to benefit the Feeding Program and school expenses associated with our Sister Parish, St. Anthony the Hermit, in Haiti.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days for Catholics to fast and abstain. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Roman Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. 

For members of the Roman Catholic Church, the norms of fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.

Our Opening Rally will be on Saturday, March 8th. Join us for 8:30 AM Mass at St. Joe’s Fullerton. We will then proceed to Belair Beltway Plaza, where Father Jesse Bolger will lead us in prayer on the sidewalk at 9:30 AM. The Fullerton campaign is located at the Belair Beltway Plaza 7600-7700 Belair Road, Fullerton, MD (Belair Rd ¼ mile south of the beltway). We pray in pairs or more, 7 AM to 7 PM, Sunday-Saturday, at the public sidewalk in front of the plaza. The abortion center, Whole Woman’s Health, is located at the back of the plaza.
